Renate was trained at the Guild for Structural Integration by Emmet Hutchins and Peter Melchior in 2000. Both studied directly with Ida Rolf in the seventies and were asked by her to teach. Renate’s first certification (1000 hours) included the rigorous Prerequisite course and the Auditing and Practitioning classes.
During Auditing, students primarily learn to analyze imbalances in the body and observer teachers and students as they perform the ten series on models. Auditors and do very little hands-on work but hone their perceptive skills and learn the ten series.
During Practitioning, students experience the ten series by first working on a student partner and then on three models. Teachers supervise, encourage, and support the practitioners.
Renate spent the next ten years as a practitioner in Palo Alto and attended workshops in Kauai and San Francisco when possible. Curious about anatomy, she took a 1-week Integral Anatomy dissection course in San Francisco.
In 2010, Renate returned to Boulder for the Advanced Practitioner course. The course includes an in-depth review of the ten series and teaches an advanced five series that includes standing and seated work.
