Low-priced massages are a great way to relax after a difficult week. Renate considers them complementary to SI treatments. SI differs from most massage in a number of ways:
- Education. Certified SI practitioners have over 1,000 hours of education. A large part of the SI practitioner’s education is spent on analyzing the body, first with the eyes and later by touch. As a Certified Advanced Practitioner, Renate has successfully completed an additional five weeks of full-time training.
- Goals. One of the primary goals of an SI session, and especially the 10 Series, is to bring the body into better alignment with gravity. Ida Rolf said: “What gravity doesn’t support, it tears down”. SI practitioners work on allowing your body to use gravity instead of fighting it.
- Client Interaction. Ida Rolf considered SI practioners educators, not manipulators. Renate teaches by touch, by talking, and by showing stretches. Clients are active participants in their sessions. Clients can choose a quiet Meditative Touch session as an alternative to a typical, more interactive SI session.
- Results. Results are noticeable and can last a long time. Because the work relies on gravity as the therapist, your structure will continue to improve after you receive the work. Photographs of clientstaken years after the basic then series show that changes were still present or even enhanced. Clients come for additional work because they want to become even more aligned and at ease or because injuries or other trauma cause scarring or fascial build up and require attention.
