In additions to Structural Integration, Renate has a background in several other modalities. While the main emphasis of Azureheart Structural Integration is the work of Ida Rolf, Renate uses those other modalities to customize each session.
- Meditative Touch is a special approach to Structural Integration that Renate learned during here advanced training. While working tight tissue, the practitioner applies gentle pressure to an area that needs to let go for two minutes or even more. As the client and the practitioner bring their attention to the place of constriction, they both perceive a gradual letting go. Renate enjoys this new way of doing the work because it combines mindfulness techniques with SI work.
- Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system. Renate took a 40-hour class with the Upledger Institute and is using craniosacral work to complement her SI work, especially for clients with neck pain or those who prefer a lighter touch.
- Yin Yoga uses supported poses to open up connective tissue. Because yin yoga poses use gravity to let go of places of tension, the poses are ideally complementary with Structural Integration. Renate has found regular yin yoga practice of great benefit, and she enjoys sharing custom poses with her clients – or even doing some work advanced work with clients in supported poses.
